Our homeowners have had to experience a lot of changes within our community due to the COVID-19 outbreak – in person parties became zoom get-togethers, lunch and breakfast groups were put on hold and social distancing replaced social events. But there has also been lots of fun too for the Bridgewater residents! We decided to ask Bridgewater homeowners how they are spending their days in their community, and how they are finding much needed comfort during this time of quarantine.
Homeowners Cindy Damron and Toni McGuire explained in a fun-filled video that they are thankful to be quarantined at Bridgewater with access to walking trails, biking paths, and warm weather. As Cindy states: “What better place to be right now than Bridgewater.”
Like Cindy and Toni, homeowner Chris Lemczack also expressed her gratitude and describes Bridgewater as “an island in the sea of restrictions and confusion.” Chris has enjoyed walking, golfing, golf-cart riding, and socially distanced chats with neighbors.
Our last film features Cindy Damron, Mary and Fred Penna, and Fatima Amorim enjoying the weather and sharing some socially distant laughs with one another.
While our community continues to combat the spread of COVID-19, our top priorities remain the health, safety, and happiness of our homeowners. We are glad to see our homeowners responsibly taking advantage of all the Good Life Bridgewater still has to offer.
A group of Bridgewater homeowners came together to make the life of a soldier on active duty, just a little bit brighter. A collection box was available in the Bridgewater Welcome Center for the month of January to accept donations of non-perishable food items, small toiletry items, socks, pillowcases and hand towels.
The idea of “Operation Gratitude” is being spearheaded by Bridgewater resident Chris Lemzcak and a host of volunteers from the community. The concept is to bombard brave soldiers with care packages filled with homemade baked goods, notes of gratitude & goodies to share with their team. The first recipient was our very own neighbor, Linda & Joe Christopher’s grandson, Douglas DeVincentis. Douglas is on his first 9-month deployment & currently is stationed in Kuwait. He leaves behind a wife and two small children.
Today was the day for the volunteers to come together and package boxes packed full of goodies, which included personal cards and notes of appreciation and gratitude.
Bridgewater neighbors came together and in some small way showed their gratitude for these young men & women’s sacrifices- giving them a reminder that they are NOT forgotten and truly appreciated.
Updates On The Bridgewater Amenity Center!
The Bridgewater amenity center is progressing nicely! At the center of this amazing community stands a 5,000-square foot clubhouse. Inside the residents will find a 2,000 square foot main room. Additionally, the clubhouse will boast a catering-style kitchen, two generously sized flex rooms for private meetings, luncheons or smaller functions, and a card room. Several overhead garage-style doors with full glass exposure will help open the clubhouse to the outdoors for a unique event or breath of fresh air. A state-of-the-art fitness center and resort style pool will be included. We can’t wait to open this beautiful facility in early summer!
Surrounding the pool and clubhouse will be a huge open park, pickleball courts, peaceful yoga area, a friendly fire pit area, a kayak launch and a huge outdoor cookout area at the covered pavilion featuring outdoor grills and televisions for everyone to enjoy!
Bridgewater Homeowners haven’t let not having an amenity center stop them from having fun! Some of the current activities are:
The Holiday season kicked off in Jolly style with the homeowners of Bridgewater during the Jingle Mingle drop in. Santa’s elves were busy bringing favorite festive appetizers and holiday beverages for all to share. The food was amazing! The drop in was a huge hit as over 50 Homeowners attended and made friends with some new faces. Bridgewater parties are the best and always filled with music, laughter, hugs, good food and great friends. “We mixed and a-mingled in jingling feet” at the 1st annual Bridgewater Jingle Mingle and a great time was had by all. We cannot wait to ring in the New Year and experience “The Good Life” at Bridgewater!
Coming Together to Help Feed the Hungry!
Bridgewater comes TOGETHER to help feed the hungry
Hunger affects the whole community, the Low Country Food Bank partners with a network of approximately 300 community-based organizations, soup kitchens and pantries that distribute food accessed across the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina. Through these organizations, more than 31 million pounds of food is distributed each year.
In our local community, 1 in 5 children go to bed hungry. By working together, we can contribute to ending this problem and help those affected in Horry County.
Bridgewater neighbors along with the Chesapeake Homes Sales & Construction team collected non-perishable food items throughout the month of November. Together, we collected over 500 lbs of canned goods, pasta, cereal and peanut butter. Our contribution will supply over 400 meals to those struggling this season in our area.
On behalf of Chesapeake Homes and the Bridgewater Team, Thank You to all those who donated!
Chili Cook-Off | Bridgewater
On a crisp November night, Bridgewater homeowners came bearing crock pots for the 1st Annual Bridgewater Chili Cook Off. There were six crock pots full of rich, aromatic, bubbling goodness.
As homeowners arrived, they started with #1 and tasted around kitchen until all six were sampled.
After sampling all the chili, a ballot was available to write down your favorite number and cast your vote.
Everyone enjoyed gathering around the fire on the back porch, mixing, mingling and laughing— enjoying The Good Life with their neighbors.
As the evening was ending, the final vote was cast and tallied.
And the winners were announced…

2nd Place- Bud Cole
3rd Place- Debby Culp
A great time was had by all and a challenge to repeat the contest next year, making to bigger and better!
Breakfast at Bridgewater | Pancake Breakfast
Who doesn’t love breakfast? On a Sunday morning in the fall at Bridgewater, neighbors came together for a fun morning of pancakes and all the trimmings!
The Design Gallery was transformed into a Pancake House with coffee, juice, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit and variety of syrups accompanying the pancakes.
Bridgewater Social Committee members became expert pancake flippers as three griddles were going at the same time, including Mickey Mouse pancakes for little kids and big kids, alike!
Everyone had great time and can’t wait until the next Bridgewater event! This will be the first of many more social events as new neighbors and become friends and the neighborhood continues to grow.
“Happiness is sharing good food with good friends”. Bridgewater is the perfect mix for everyone – Come live the Good Life!

Hurricane Preparation Tips
In preparation for Hurricane Dorian – Chesapeake Homes wants to ensure the safety of both your home and your loved ones. Here are five ways to prepare for the upcoming storm. We hope you stay safe!
1. Take Inventory | Before and After Pictures
The last thing you will want to do after your home just got destroyed by a hurricane is try to remember every single item that was in your home originally. A good way to avoid this is by taking a brief walk through of the home before the storm hits with your camera in hand so you are able to remember everything for insurance purposes.
2. Secure Windows and Doors
Entry points like doors and windows are the weakest yet most vulnerable parts of your home during a major storm. Boarding these up greatly reduce the likelihood of shattering. An open window opens opportunity for excess winds, rain, and debris to fly in therefore using plywood or shutters is a good idea. Don’t bother taping your windows, this is a false sense of security and allows for the opportunity for larger, deadlier pieces of glass to come into the home. Also having leaky windows and doors can let in water so making sure they are properly sealed will give you extra protection against the storm.
3. Keep Trees Trimmed | Secure Loose Objects in the Yard
Outdoor objects surrounding your home can become deadly when getting swept up by a hurricane’s strong winds causing damage to either you or your neighbor’s property. Consider trimming your trees and get rid of any weak branches that may break off in the storm along with picking up things around the yard including potted plants, yard furniture, and children’s toys.
4. Clear Your Gutters and Drains
Having clear gutters and drains can prevent water from collecting around your home. In the case of a severe storm, this can prevent instant flooding of your attack. Make sure that no water is collecting by having a clean, smooth drainage way.
5. Protect Home From Flooding
Flooding is the most common natural disaster. To prevent damage from flooding, park your vehicles on higher ground before water rises. Experts recommend piling up sandbags are home’s entrances at least 2 feet high as an effective barricade against the floodwaters. If sandbags are not acquirable, fill a few heavy-duty garbage bags one-third of the way with water and place them side by side. Also consider unplugging all electronics and appliances as well as shutting off electricity to prevent an electrical surge or potential electrocution.
